A pioneer in modern medicine, Dr. George Crile, BA 1885, co-founded the Cleveland Clinic in 1921 and served as the hospital鈥檚 president until 1940. He performed the world鈥檚 first successful human-to-human blood transfusion and his contributions to the study of blood pressure and shock in surgical operations led to many innovations in administering anesthesia.
